Dementia Patient Awarded Compensation For Injury at Care Home
A dementia patient has received compensation from her former care home after being severely burnt when she tripped and fell against a hot pipe.
Brenda Williams was living at Campion Gardens Care Home in Swansea, when she tripped over the wire that was running across her room. Mrs Williams then fell on a hot water pipe that was not adequately insulated, leaving her with severe burns. She was then taken to Morriston Hospital, where she was treated for burns of more than 10 inches on her left arm and six inches on her left leg.
The 74-year-old was later awarded compensation for the incident at the care home, which her husband Colin says will be put towards her care in a new home.
