Notable cases dealt with and supervised by Amanda include:
- Acting for a father in relation to a complex dispute involving a child’s religious upbringing requiring intense input in relation to the difference in cultural backgrounds between the respective parents.
- Acting for an unmarried mother of 3 children on her separation from the children’s wealthy father (circa £50m). Seeking orders for income and capital as well as housing for the children’s continuing minority. This resulted in an order requiring the father to pay a sum to cover the mother’s legal costs on a monthly basis throughout the life of the matter and culminated with an order providing a home for the children throughout their minority, a significant capital sum to cover many expenses which required to be met during the children’s minority and a significant monthly maintenance figure to meet the household outgoings of the mother and children.
- Acting for a High Net worth individual who had amassed considerable capital wealth after divorce and after the divorce settlement had been made. The former spouse made an application to set aside the order on the basis of non disclosure of the assets at the time suggesting the Husband had been aware of the likelihood his business would take off as it did. Successfully settling this matter before final hearing.
- Acted for a wife in connection with a very acrimonious divorce where the husband had moved the family assets outside the jurisdiction leaving his wife in a rented property and entirely dependent upon her husband to pay the rental and school fees for their children. Proceedings were eventually issued having secured the wife’s position. The proceedings involved proceedings from other family members being taken outside the jurisdiction in an attempt to divert assets away from the English courts. This matter included an application for a worldwide freezing order.
- Acted for a business client in relation to divorce where the parties and extended family had purchased a property together and all lived on the property but in different parts. The property also provided a site for the family businesses. The matter required detailed consideration of trust law and included an application by the extended members of the family as intervenors.
- Acting on divorce proceedings including a valuable family business where that business was the main asset and where the valuation of that business proved to be complex and required significant cross examination at trial of an expert valuer. The business was very much a “one off” successful business with significant value and generating a sizeable income. The matter went to trial and the order provided for the firm’s client to receive significant sums representing her interest in that business but over a number of years.
