IBB sponsors David Silva Memorial Prize
Leading West London law firm IBB Solicitors has sponsored the David Silva Memorial Prize for the top land law student at Brunel University Law School. This year’s David Silva Memorial Prize for Land Law will be awarded to Rishi Doshi, a student who will complete his degree in 2012.
IBB partner Andrew Olins is a Professor of Land Law at Brunel University where he tutors third-year law undergraduates part-time. IBB has sponsored the Land Law Prize for several years, and renamed it after the late David Silva, formerly partner and head of Real Estate at IBB, who himself studied at Brunel University, and who died in 2010.
Mrs Sam Silva, David Silva’s widow, presented the prize. Vivien Rimmer, a partner at IBB Solicitors, accompanied her to the prize giving on 20 July at the Council Chamber at Brunel University. Vivien specialises in land law and therefore has a particular interest in this award. She also represented IBB Solicitors at the post-ceremony celebratory gathering.
Head of Law School, Professor Javaid Rehman said: “Brunel Law School is extremely thankful for IBB’s continued interest in our students and its sponsorship of this award. Such awards enhance the atmosphere within the law school and promote a positive and competitive edge to the students’ studies”.
Steven Booth, Managing Partner at IBB Solicitors, said: “I’d like to congratulate Rishi Doshi for winning this award for Land Law. IBB Solicitors attaches great importance to academic excellence, and we are delighted to support our academic community by sponsoring the David Silva Memorial Prize.”
