Advertising Standards Agency: complaints against charities rank highest
The Advertising Standards Agency has recently published its annual report which showed that last year the regulator received its highest ever number of complaints, with charities receiving nearly double the number of complaints than any other non-commercial category. The second most complained about category concerned ‘donations’ and in fourth place was ‘fundraising’. Adverts by the Royal British Legion and Save the Children featured in the list of the top ten most complained about adverts last year.
The findings of the report serve as a reminder to the sector of the importance of complying with regulatory requirements in relation to all aspects of a charity’s functions, including advertising in all its forms.
